Thai Foot Massage is a treatment of the lower legs and feet that involves physically stretching and massaging to open Sen (energy). There are 10 major energy lines that run throughout the body from the top of the head down to the soles of the feet, where they end as pressure points. It is these that provide a map of the whole body and the organs. By stimulating these we are able to encourage the mind and body to restore its own natural healthy balance therefore keeping the whole body harmonised.
Thai Foot Massage is great for tired feet, improving circulation and lymph movement in the feet and lower legs, and improving flexibility. If you have tried reflexology, you will also enjoy this fabulous treatment, but will be surprised at how different the techniques feel!
The benefits of Thai Foot Massage:
During the treatment both feet are cleaned and the feet are stretched and rocked from side to side to gently loosen the ankle ligaments. One foot is wrapped (this keeps the foot warm) while the other is treated. This process is repeated on the other side later. The leg muscle is stretched and using effleurage motion the muscle is fanned to release toxins and encourage drainage of the lymphatic system.
Hands, fingers, thumbs, knuckles and a rounded wooden Thai foot massage stick are used to stimulates certain areas of the feet releasing blocked energy within the body’s many Sens lines (Thai-based meridians). This helps to balance and restore a healthy flow of energy throughout the body as well as dispersing a build-up of crystals of calcium and uric acid (toxic wastes).
